Take advantage of our return routes to the UK
As part of the Britannia group of companies, with a fleet of removal trucks constantly making deliveries and pick-ups throughout Spain and Portugal, we are able to offer our clients an efficient and cost effective solution. For example, if you are moving from Malaga to places such as Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia and Madrid, you can benefit from our return routes to the UK, avoiding the need to pay for a dedicated load. If you're concerned about collection/delivery dates, we offer complimentary storage for up to two weeks to help coordinate your consignment. A full packing service is available if required to ensure that all goods are well protected in transit
Dedicated removals within Spain
If timing is of the essence, Britannia Southern can also provide competitive quotes for dedicated loads. An average removal (i.e. 3 bedroom house) with say 4 hours driving time each way would require two days to complete (the 1st day would be devoted to preparing and packing the goods and loading them onto the vehicle; on the 2nd day our crew would leave the depot early in the morning and head towards the new address, unload, site the goods, unpack and return to the depot). Deliveries beyond Jaen, Murcia, and Huelva would require an overnight stay due to the distance involved. As opposed to removals on a part load basis, a dedicated van load enables the client to dictate the delivery date of the consignment.
Moving to/from Portugal
Our depot is under 5 hours from the Portuguese border which effectively makes any collection or delivery into a two day move, with an overnight stay necessary. We offer a dedicated removal service where the client dictates the moving date or a "when in area" service, more economical but subject to us having an available load to Portugal and sharing the van with other clients. If you only need to move a small quantity we can offer a pallet service. Britannia Southern has relocated families to the Algarve (Tavira, Vilamoura, Portimao, Albufeira, Olhao, Lagos, Silves and Faro), Porto, Lisbon and Braga.
Frequently asked questions
1) I only have a few boxes to move, can you help me?
Yes, we can offer two solutions for small consignments:
Typically for less than 8 boxes or one cubic metre. The only drawback is that all items will have to be very well packed, especially items of furniture, because of the amount of times your cargo will be handled. It's a known fact that couriers will refuse to transport goods with inadequate packaging. We have special arrangements with leading couriers and can collect, pack and label your items. Delivery is normally within 5 working days.
For up to 2 cubic metres of goods. Items must be able to fit on a Europallet(120x80cms) or on a standard pallet (120x100cms). We handle the collection, pack the items if required, shrink wrap and cardboard the consignment. Delivery is to kerbside only. We also have a reliable service to the Canary islands (Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura) and to the Balearics (Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza).
2) Are my goods insured on local & national moves?
The transport company is not legally obliged to subscribe additional transport insurance, also known as "All Risks" cover. It's up to the client to inquire about taking out extra cover for their belongings. Our surveyor will guide you through all the different insurance options available. Clients' consignments are automatically insured up to a maximum value of 18.000 Euros (this is what's known as in transit insurance) when the load is transported in Britannia Southern's vehicles only. The policy covers damages to goods (when in the vehicle) caused by fire, lightning, explosion, flooding, road accident, armed robbery and earthquake. Unless a higher value is specified in writing Spanish law limits a transport company's responsibility for damages, loss and malfunctions to goods during road transport to a maximum of 4.5€ per Kg or 360€ per m3.
